You want predictable workflows that are the same each time.

When you’re mapping out these processes at your own company and you’re asking yourself, is AI going to be good for this task? You’re going to want to look at how rigid the actual workflow is.

Three kinds of tasks

If you can write it out step by step and it’s the same every time, then chances are it’s really good for automation.

If there’s one or two parts that need some reasoning and some human intervention, then chances are AI can be used along with automation to upgrade and fulfill that workflow.

If your task is completely different every single time, AI is not going to be able to handle that right now because it requires too much upfront training.

At that point, especially if this is very important to the business, like taking in new customers, you want to have a real person there.

If your revenue stream is customers, then you don’t want to have a robot there to make a mistake which is going to reduce your output.

Routine tasks are the sweet spot

So if you have a chatbot that’s really good at taking form intake, and every customer that comes to your website is asking about the same thing, where can I get this form, where can I get this report, it’s really good with strict routine tasks where you’ve trained it to do exactly what it needs to do in order to complete the task.

It really depends on the task. But if you follow the framework that I laid out, you’ll have a pretty good idea of whether AI can be inserted in that operation.

Strategy stays with you

This is not to say you can’t talk to AI to get some good brainstorming in. I do it all the time. But it’s going to have to be you who makes the final call.

Don’t just take whatever AI says and say, okay, no need to review. It probably knows what it’s talking about.

You have to read and get a gut check based on your own expertise, your own creative knowledge, and how proficient you are in your business.

Your marketing should sound like you

Anything organic facing would be like copy on your website.

A lot of people are going to start using AI to talk to the camera, and I think it will do okay, but I don’t think it’s something AI really excels at right now.

I think someone real talking on the camera using their own words and their own scripts is gonna do way better than someone using an automated robotic system for their marketing.

Where that leaves us

AI is really good at doing the grunt work, at doing the repetitive tasks that nobody likes doing.

What it’s really bad at is the relationships, the human-to-human contact, and that high-level strategy that only a human can provide.
